Hey guys, I have entered Revver's next film contest, this one has the April fools theme. I started out to do a basic ball movement test, but as soon as the contest was announced I changed my whole outlook on the animation. Let me know what you guys think, thanks! Maybe I can get first this time around?

I'd really like some critique so I know what to look for in future animations.

I think the 'jokester' could use a bit more movement. It's a good solid animation. Nothing I can really see wrong with the animation. It lacks, but that's because they have no faces or arms or anything. Just being spheres, I think you did a grand job.

ahaah funny animation. I like that both characters were just boucning balls. I think the "prankster" ball could use a bit more weight when he walks/moves as he seems a bit too elasticy or bounces maybe a bit too much.

good job though!

I would suggest using the prankster ball's physicality to define his personality a little more. As it is, his character is portrayed by what he does, but not really by how he does it; we don't really get a sense of his personality until after the prank's been committed. While watching the current animation, I felt a little bit of curiousity as to what would happen next, but at the same time I kind of felt like I was just watching stuff happen that didn't seem to be going anywhere. I think the piece would be stronger if you made the blue ball bounce on and stop like he does, but then become very sneaky and mischievous upon seeing the sleeping ball. This could help to heighten that curiousity factor of, "Oh, what's he up to?", thus making the buildup to the prank more interesting and the payoff more rewarding.

As for how to make a ball appear sneaky, it's up to you to experiment, but I'd suggest making him look back and forth, take two or three quick hops, and then pause to look around again.

On the other hand, if you don't really want the prankster to be the sneaky, devious type, it's of course your own stylistic choice to make what characteristics you want him to show.

Thanks guys! These comments are helping a lot, looking at the animation now it looks dead in character up until the chuckle. I am going to make sure and remember what you guys have said. Next animation will be better, promise :) Thanks for the comments guys, keep them coming.
