View Full Version : maya users, i need your help
i need help getting clean poly surfaces after using the birail tool.
i thought my curves were fine (they have the same number of edit points and the points match up). as you can see the end result is quite messy.
any help is appreciated. thanks

Your result surface doesn't look like a poly mesh but more
like a subdivision surface.
Subdivision surfaces never give you an even isoparm layout.
Go to your Birail options and set the "output geometry" to "nurbs" or "polygons".
I hate "subdiv" :-)
I would work with "nurbs"
hope that helps

It would be better to do a NURB's bi-rail surface, that way you will get a clean surface for certain.
For what looks like a reasonably simple shape that you are making, there is no need to use bi-rail to get that shape with poly's or sub-d's as there are simpler means.
