ANATOMY FORUM GUIDE - The definitive version!

This is not meant to be an exhaustive list of all threads on the Anatomy Forum, but it is meant to give you an idea of where to start. Please feel free to post any questions you may have here!

For those completely new to digital painting, I highly recommend working in grayscale to familiarize yourself with values and how they work to create form. Especially initially, a solid understanding of value is far more important than an understanding of color.

You are highly discouraged from using a mouse to paint digitally - if you are going to be doing any amount of digital painting, please do yourself a favor and purchase a drawing tablet of some kind - a Wacom Intuos is preferable but the Graphire is cheaper, though less pressure sensitive. It is fine especially to get started with. There are also other brands of tablets which are cheaper, but the Wacoms are the best. Run a search on the forums and you will find many threads related to Tablet questions.

The most effective method for getting feedback is by creating a Personal Sketchbook Thread. These can contain 2D and / or 3D imagery, so long as it is related to human / animal / creature studies / anatomy. The more you participate and post replies to others work, the more replies you will get in return, so it pays to be active! You will find the community here to be very encouraging, so even if you are new, it is okay to post your work. There are also many experienced artists on the forum who can give you encouragement and advice.
