View Full Version : unfolded development
krone 03-13-2007, 06:01 PM hi!
maybe it´s very simple but I can´t find the way.....
Is there a way to explode a simple mesh (for example something like a prism or a diamant) into unprojected polygons? I mean, I need to have all the faces in their real dimensions like an unfolded development
Thx

Optimal mapping will give you undistorted UV polygons, but don't expect a continous UV mesh from this.

thanks for your reply, that´s ok, but it´s possible to convert the unwrapped mesh (even if not continuos) into polygons or into a new flat mesh? (sorry I don´t know Bodypaint so well and can´t find this in the manual)
Sorry, no. Flat projection only works for UV polyogns, not for real polygons.
Maybe do a search here, i remember that this problem has popped up earlier and special applications for this type of unfolding were recommended.
Cheers
Björn
There is a plugin (dont remember the name, let me see if i can found it) that creates polygons based on your UVmap.
