View Full Version : how to remove seams?
intox_neb 03-04-2003, 08:36 AM I have a problem with really visible seams in my model, what can I do to remove these seams in Maya 4.5?

I'n not sure about this in Maya, but in 3ds max I always moved the vertices in a little bit or delete some edges and reconnect the others so you get an easyer model.
Perhaps the 'cleanup tool' is something you can use for that, not sure though.

tune your tesselation

If you're talking about multi-part nurbs models, yes, you should increase tesselation. Also mental ray uses an algorithm to detect and connect close edges during tesselation (i think), so seams become less visible.

It's a polygon proxy mesh, so not nurbs

You can try to select all the edges with the seam and 'soften edges'.
