I've been wondering what the best way to provide a subtle glow or radiance on an object is. The only way I know of right now is to put a post-render effect on a light (but it just slaps it on top of all the geometry). I'm told there is a way to do it using material IDs. Anyone know a good way to produce these effects?

Thanks.

you might want to try this tut/technique,

it can create nice and moody images when used right.

I have this wonderfull Specular Bloom script installed on my system, but I can't find the original file, and I'm not able to find it through Google. If you want it, give me your e-mail and I'll send the maxscript file to you. (I'm using v.3.1, so I'm not sure it will work in later version, but it's worth a try.)
