45 minutes, photoshop. I got really lazy in the end, but its a morning after a night of a festival, kind of like a new year festival.

Started of with a bit of an ambitious idea for 45 min first pic was done before the time frame.
Sorry about the partialy clothed woman, I started drawing from the inside out.
http://i27.photobucket.com/albums/c178/lastchild7/mourningwip.gif
This one was just about an hour.

This took an extra hour. a bit to blurry and small, but I got a bit tired of tweeking.
I guess the idea behind this is a futuristic samurai girl has a best friend who is a robot, he turns unstable, and dangerous, and asks her to shut him down, the problem is he is programmed to protect himself. This is why I call the picture Japanese mourning, rather than morning.

Hi all,
I'm a first time poster, half year lurker. Well, might be worth an introduction :). My name is Jerry, I'm from Holland and i'm following a new media study at the moment. I bought a wacom about two months back and i haven't used it that much, but i feel it is time to really get some training going because that is the only way of getting better. Above is my first serious sketch, i hope you don't think it is too bad, C&C are always welcome because i can learn from them.

Hi Gungnir - Welcome!
great first sketch mate - perfect brush for the leaves
crit - It seems that your picture leans to the right - is that on purpose?
Look at my picture - it leans to the left! - lol
If you dont know this trick it's really good: if you flip your canvas you will be able to see it with new eyes. In Photoshop: Image / Rotate canvas / Flip horizontal
I dont like flipping my canvas - because it makes me mad to see my obvious mistakes!
Best of luck in the future!

Only my second ever daily sketch entry, went slightly over (due to the last minute decision to add trees to the mountains), about 50 mins on Photoshop CS...

The sun isn't bright enough imo, it looks like there's not enough light coming from it to light the mountains, I'm not quite sure how to fix it tho :S. Any suggestions appreciated!
nice stuff everyone!

Strangely, my lasting impression of suburban Japan is the labyrinthine network of cabling that drips from every street lamp and sign. I thought I'd try to combine this with the feeling of a fresh morning, but as ever it seems with these challenges time defeated me.
Initial b/w sketch in Artrage and imported into PS for the colour work.
At 45mins:

And pretty much hours later after pointlessly noodling around, getting nowhere:
http://i150.photobucket.com/albums/s82/witheredape/japanesemorningextended.jpg
I'm not sure what I was going for really, but in the end I couldn't quite nail it!
p.s. metinicus: stunning!!
