result would be twice as good with better antialiasing.

Yep, Hair Dept. is a pretty versatile plugin. Works great with Solid Splines Pro, too, which helps cut down on editor drag from all those polys. But why would you use Hair Dept. when you have Shave?

yes, its good with solid spline but the problem is animation :-(

Here is a scene from a larger animation in which I used HD. I agree--would be good if you could change the spline interpolation. I think I used Solid spline for this one with the hair box checked. Worked rather well for my pourposes.

2.3 mb (sorenson 3) A bit dark--but you get the idea..

I would say that HD is not the best answer to Character Hair--but its a good tool if you need wavy tentacles on an alien model or cilia / flagella on projects such as mine.

Tried Shave for this animation originally and looked like fine pubic hair waving around. Really pretty gross :hmm:

I think it depends on your approach
I create my HD splines and delete the original geometry that it creates
and use the magnet tool to "Style" the splines or use the HD animation panel
to preview animation paremeters in real time
I then re-apply geomtery to the splines with the Volume feature of the Plugin

here is an animated wig i did over a year ago with HD
