Anyone know if Python has any OpenEXR hooks yet? Checked around on Google for a bit, and the only big imaging libraries I'm coming up with (PIL and an imagemagick binding) don't seem to have any exr support yet.
I'd kind of like to avoid having to write my own... :hmm:

You've got to imagine that there is, since ILM created OpenEXR, and uses Python extensively.

Looks like not though (http://www.arcknowledge.com/gmane.comp.video.openexr.devel/2005-02/msg00047.html), at least as of 2005.

There are a couple of projects that automatically convert C++ interfaces to Python, but those would likely not do what you need..

krita and gegl will allow you to use ruby and python to load openexr images.
The Maya api should allow doing that too.
