Good day all!

I have a problem here with Particle Instancer. In this scenario, I builded a particle rain sys with collision event for the splash effect. After I was done, I assign Particle Instance (Lets called PI) to the RainDrops 1st and it worked fine.

Next I assigned PI to the splash particle sys. Now heres the problem, the Geo Instancer failed to follow the direction of the splash particle sys. I tried to play ard with the options in the PI but it still failed to work.

Anyone can help me here? if theres any thing in expressions pls kindly be more detail in yr kind advice coz I have almost zero knowledge in it. Pls pardon me. :)

This might work - in the Instancer Replacement menu of your second particle shape, under rotation, set AimDirection to "velocity". This should rotate the X axis of your instanced geometry along the direction of particle motion, which, I think, is what you are after. If your geomety is not oriented correctly, say, the long axis of your rain drop is along the Y axis, then rotate it until the long axis is along the X axis and freeze the transformations. If this messes up the first particleShape, then you will also have to set its aim direction.

Now, I have never made rain-drops before, but would it work to use streak particles rather than instances, and simply hardware render them? Or do they really have to look like droplets? Just a thought.

Good luck.

Hi there Marc!

MAny thanxs for your input! Ok ,my intention was to make them look like droplets so particle instancer is the likely way to go. Actually I had more or less already did what U mentioned, but I notice when I play back the particle sys. Some geo are still not oriented properly to the axis which it suppose to face. Guess, I have to live with it :P

Anyway I'II post again to give a further details on what I did later when I get back home, thanxs once again.
