Hello, I'm trying to Hide the column part of this model so that I can do some cuts on the top part without bothering the column how do I do this in XSI? Can I create a group or layer for the column polygons and temporarily hide them?

2) How could I disconnect the column so I can move it around by itself?

3) How would I align the corner of this object to dead center..so it would be easy to duplicate and align 3 more in a perfect square?

Any help would be great.
Thanks

Your first question is well covered in the online guides. With XSI open, hit F1 to bring up the XSI guides or go to help/XSI guides. In the XSI documentation window that opens up click on index and type Extract into the keyword window. Now click on Polygons under the Extracting heading. You now will get more info on extracting polygons than you probably ever will get in a response here.

For your second question you want to modify the pivot, which will temporarily move where the objects center of rotation, scaling and translation is located. Short answer is to hold down ALT while in a manipulation mode to be able to temporarily move the pivot. You can also hold down CTRL to enable snapping. Look up pivot in the online docs as described above to get a lot more info, including how to use the pivot in animations.
