View Full Version : fR baker and...
fellah 03-30-2002, 03:09 AM hi,
just 2 quick Q's:
1)
is there anyone here that have tried out finalRenders "baker"?
if, is it accurate? does it leave artifacts anywhere, in corners for an example (as lightwave's baker does)...?
2)
and for lw and max users,
is it possible to export lightwave objects with UVMaps to max(4.2)?
thanks in advance! :)

No FR baker experience, just lots of hand baking,..
Back in the day I used to port RT zines to SGI Onyx. I had to use 8.3 filenames (textures) and the (then new) 3ds exporter with mapping co-ords. VRML has actually worked in some cases!
Lightscape used to leave those same corner artifacts as well and had a 'pixel pad' that helped in some cases. One of the virtual set mfgrs has a max plugin that does a nice job of this right in max (plug and script combo), unfortuanatly they are not releasing the code, even at a price. I once converted an intricate design in 2 days with that sucker!
I think there is a free obj exporter for max. And Okino makes one hell of a translator.
