Im working in maya and i have unwanted seams. i look throught tutorials and did what they did and still got seams. Is in how i did my uv layout? is it in my paint program(photoshop)? How do i get rid of these seams?

There is no way to avoid seams altogether. They're a fact of life that you simply have to deal with as best as you can. Try to place the seams in areas where they won't be too visible (for example, if you are UV mapping a head, try to place the seam along the back of the head). The best way to disguise them in the texture is to use a 3D painting program (like Bodypaint or ZBrush) to paint over the seams.

It's nothing to fear, just learn how to position the seams in less visible areas, or as also suggested, use a 3d paint package like BodyPaint that will let you paint over the seams...

so the same goes where 2 separate sections of the layout cometogether? for instance where the torso of a quadraped and legs attach theres a big seam.

Either that or hide it with some additional geometry ie: A belt whose own seam is on the inside etc.
