I am wanting to emit a bunch of particles from an object. I am using Thinking particles. The problem is that it is my first run with Thinking Particles and XPresso, but my job deadline is the end of the week. So I would appreciate any help you can give. The manual explains the node rather functionally, so I want to know where in the chain this node goes to get particles emmitting out of an object.

Thanks

psurface position just gives a random point on an objects surface.

to use it, connect the particle birth output from your pstorm to a psetdata node, and a psurface position node, then connect the output of the psurface position node, to the position input of the psetdata node, then select the psurface position node and drag and drop the object you want to emit from into teh provided link box.

i believe that psurface position only works with editable objects, so make sure you're not trying to sue a NURBS or Primitive object first by hitting make editable.

good luck :)

Cool thanks for that. Will give it a go.

mdme_sadie is right on the setup, but I think you might want to consider using a Pborn node rather than a Pstorm node. Also, try using Pvolume position as well. It works in much the same way as Psurface position, but can achieve some cool effects in combination with Pborn.

Let us know how things turn out.
