Hello everybody,

I'm a new Renderman user an d i have a problem with maya and the UV-sets. I have a character made in one piece but textured in ... 5 i think. Every texture is assigned with a UV-set. In maya, works well, but in renderman i don't know how assign this.

Can anyone help me please?

Thanks

You probably talk of MTOR/PRman, since RenderMan is just an abstract API.

If this is the case, my advice is to render your character as a subdivision surface (Just pick the mesh and choose 'RenderMan->Pixar Subdivs->Mesh as Subdiv'. You can turn the subdiv display off in the channel box and select 'RenderMan->Pixar Subdiv->Toggle Object XRay' to get your mesh to display as usual).
Now, open the Hypershade, select each shading group for the resp. UV set, then assign the belonging SLIM appearance to it. Done (for five UV sets you'd need five SLIM appearnces then, each with the resp textures mapped to e.g. diffuse color)

There also is a "tutorial" on this in the RAT docs. In the Index, go to 'Modeling->Modeling Tools'. In the 'Modeling Feature Guide', scroll down to '7. Subdivision Surfaces' and click on 'Shading'. Scroll down a bit to the section 'Applying Shaders to Groups of Faces'. It describes the process above.

In general, your question is an RTFM issue; but since the RAT docs could need a re-ordering, I answered nevertheless (the fact that you find this stuff in the 'modeling' section says it all). ;)

Cheers,

.mm
