Here's a model, now about 50% done, of a Q35 JumpJet. Nobody seem to do spaceships much anymore, so either I'm being passe as all get out, or I'm about to start a revival...
JumpJet 1 (http://www.altyna.com/examples/jumpjet1.jpg)
JumpJet 2 (http://www.altyna.com/examples/jumpjet2.jpg)
This is based on an original Lego design by Bram Lambrecht (http://lego.bldesign.org/models/?n=32). Working from Lego originals has an interesting benefit; if you specify one unit in LightWave to be equivalent to a LEgo 1x1 brick, you can keep the proportions perfect.
So far, I have the command section, airlock and passenger module complete (the latter not shown).
Crits welcome, but resources for ship designs and nurnies would be better; I expect that there's a lot of technique I need to acquire to be able to do this sort of thing much faster. These samples represent about three days work, with minimal kit bashing (parts re-use from other objects).
Edited to add: rendered using a spinning light setup, 2 minutes each.
