View Full Version : MUDBOX-ZBRUSH to XSI
themick_g 03-09-2007, 08:47 AM Hi,
I think with the release of MUDBOX and the announcement of ZBrush 3 it s time for a workflowthread, where everybody could share their experiences and solutions.
I never worked with Mudbox, but my code in Z is
DE-HBEK-EAEAEA-D32
but I always guess if I have to use an alphadepthfactor?
Is there a better code out there?
Thanks for sharing!

most of the time i render the mudbox highpoly in xsi...
because im not able to render clean dispmaps in xsi...
i will keep an eye on these thread...
whats the problem rendering displacementmaps in xsi? I recently made this turtle as a little test in mudbox, its rendered in xsi with the skinshader using a lowpoly mesh displaced using the map exported from mudbox:

Looks great wurp! Don't suppose you'd mind showing the low poly wireframe, and displacement settings?
Really nice shading...

personally,
I've had bad experiences with displacement maps. Detailing in zbrush is easy... till you need to get it into XSI. It's just too much of a hastle. Tried Mudbox at a friends' and it's far more straight forward! I didn't see the need to add alpha depth chanells or whatever, i really didn't try it for that long but there where results. Zbrush does'nt use much of my resources though... Mudbox slows the pc down when i have to subdevide.
hope this helps
