View Full Version : How difficult is it to split texture maps?

just finished working on a character for a collaboration where they wanted 2 texture sheets-1 1024x1024 for body and accessories.The other 1 512x512 for head.
Now i have been told that they made a mistake and want the accessories as a seperate texture.
Currently the accessories are spread all around the body on 1.
Can anyone please advise the easiest(least time consuming) way.They have not given me a preferred size for the texture,but really dont want to have to texture all over again.

You could try the surface sampler/transfer maps

Copy the textured character with all the accesories and all, do a the new uv layout that is desired for the new guidelines. And then just sample the texture from the old model. Prob have to crank the quality up pretty high, and i'm not totally sure if all the details will come through.. but it could be worth a try..
