Heh, although I'm an aqua advocate, its nice to see that windows is embracing a new interface.

Enjoy all!

If you can see the image, then the site is up

You might be sad if your favorite colour isn't blue. Lucky it's my favorite. :arteest:

Pick one.
*Sighs*
Seems like an awful lot of wasted screen-space once again. This shifting towards the candy theme is a thorn in my eye. But as long as there's the classical mode, I won't mind - but then again, such a waste of disk space.
They should do more with simple designs.

the screens look different from the google search
Though rather similar. Remember it's not out yet.
Anyway, I saw the page - and the gifs (gifs, for pete's sake, let's make the images as nasty looking as possible)
What's this google-search combobox doing in the Explorer window?
Oh, I forgot, I always search Google when I wanne access my files.
And the ever hated Quick Launch sidebar, showing you the same stuff you see at the Taskbar, only 10 times bigger. OH, and lets not the MOST IMPORTANT NEW WINDOW FEATURE: the Slide Show!! - How proffesional is THAT?
Hmm, the welcome screen looks as inviting as a freezing winternight while wearing wet woollen clothes.
And the Icons can, never, never - ever be big enough! The same goes for the buttons. Maybe M$ will have the brains to keep the "small icons" option.
Like I said before, Think big, the same goes for wasted screenspace.
I guess we'll be plowing though the Windows options, unchecking useless features forever.
Sorry for the rant.
I hope it won't be as bad in the end, I use windows all the time.
And I hope "Windows Longhorn" won't be nicknamed "Windows Bullshit".
But they better not leave out the classic look - just for funtionality.

Of course. We learned this with XP. Everything has to be nice and BIG and brightly colored with nice rounded edges... you know, like kiddie blocks. So everybody can see it real well, and nobody gets their eye poked out by any nasty sharp corners!

Meanwhile, MY eyes hurt from doing this....

Gotta say, after this (http://www.cgtalk.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=47243&highlight=Microsoft) and that (http://www.kosar.net/images/forums/computer/648/windows_longhorn_desktop.jpg) plus i just watched the ring and its like 3 in the morning, i'm scared shyt*ess.
Curse you microsoft!

i am fully aware of the bias of the first article. i read the entire damn thing, and only believe a small portion. but that small portion still freaks me out.

Is it a joke ? Hey, did you also notice that even the simplier operation now take all the screen ????? Seems win2k got still a long life ;)

I think it still soks.

It's too big. In all things you can think of. And all the time you find stuff of older versions in the new windows. Try to make a OS that's clear of all that (oke some simulations for older programs) but U must be aware of that if it's activated or installled.

And that ripped OSX aqua look change. Try to find a better one, instead to rip it.

Just some opinions

I doubt that they will have a windows classic interface if they are changing the interface, name, and file system in order to escape legal problems.

just looking at that side bar makes me think its just a doodad. seems like they are desperate to fill it. i mean, come on a clock that big, with no numbers on it, its just graphical eye candy. and a slide show permanently available because you never know when you might need it.

what could this version of windows possibly offer me over win2k. the database method of file management sounds interesting, but it also seems to be mainly of advantage when you are trying to find a file which i frankly dont have a problem with, versus improving the computer's seek times once the application is running. will it speed up app boots? can the security actually be improved by something like Microsoft?
