Hi,
i'm having a situation when the texture needed for the bump and colormap probably will exceed the 8 k limit that maya has for the filetextures.
Is there any way to map different filetextures to different parts of the object using uvsets and a switchnode in any way?
or if anyone ever been in the same situation and solved it in any other way?

Splitting the object up will mess with my meshsmooth, and applying different shaders to the faces is not to liked by mentalray all the time.
Any solution at all would save my project..

cheers

UV space non repeting texture maping for maya. Sounds like a dream, probubly just need a good programer to wright some thing.

Basicly you know how the 1to1 is were the texture and UVs start. well you have 4 other squars there that if some how the 1to1 texture could not repet and then tell the texture to only cover specific UV space that would be awsome..

No more bugy UVsets and no more bugy multiple shaders on objects.

dream and it may happen.
Sorry I couldnt help

yes you can use UVsets and a UV chooser. Referencing will really screw with you if you do that tho.
