Number one resource I'd say would have to be learning from life itself. Go look for some reference pictures on google, or if you can, find some places (like a park, or a train station, etc.) to sit and observe people.

Figure out where the light source is, and where the shadows fall... study that, and it should help.

There's a great book called 'Dynamic Light and Shade' by Burne Hogarth... I've never been a big fan of his contorted figures but this book is a good starting point... but I do agree... just look around you and try and recreate what you see...
