Hello.

I've made a skull to fit my cat character, and I want to use it as a bone. I'm pretty sure u could do this in Max 4 as it was one of the new features they advertised.

I've gone into bone edit and checked bone on. It seems to behave just like a bone, it's linked to the spine and reacts properly, although there is the sentence
"Selection is not a bone object" in the bone edit mode.
Does this effect anything.? Will I still be able to skin with it using envelopes?

Or is there something I have missed out to turn it into a proper bone?

Comments and sugestions welcome. :) Cheers u guys and gals.

I'm not entirely up to date on the any-object-can-be-a-bone thing, but I just wanted to mention that you should be able to, without any problems, create an ordinary bone from the pivot of the skull to its tip, then link the skull to the that bone, and use the skull to.. whatever it is you want to use it for.

Just a thought.. if some more or less untested feature is tricky, circumvent it :)

Good point. :)

Ahhhh sometimes I love Max with it's hundreds of work arounds.

If the skinning goes all wonky with this bone, then I'll do as you say. Cheers :)
