Hi... I'm learning Wings3D, but ever since I installed Windows Vista on my PC, it's been running awfully slow. It ran nice and smooth on XP, but on Vista, a few hundred polys and it gets choppy to the point that I can't continue working.

Is there any way around this? Any video settings or something that can be changed for it to work smoothly? Or do we just have to sit and wait until a compatible version of Wings3D comes out?

For the record, I've tried 0.98.32a and 0.98.36, they both behave the same way.

I’m far from being an early adopter. Things and especially software should at least halfway work as intended. Which normally forbids first software versions which are more or less some sort of a public beta testing.

This short introduction to the following notes that I do not use Windows Vista. So the following is what I recall from various other sites. Vista seems to have some serious problems with OpenGL. These problems cause a near to unusable slowdown of all software that uses OpenGL. Wings3D falls into this category since it uses OpenGL to display the 3D view of the objects. Only two solutions: Wait for Microsoft until a software update is available or use Windows XP.
