Actually if Robin wasn't working on the project there would be no windows version. One of the developers from filmgimp that works at R&H was like "Why are we wasting time on a windows version of filmgimp." :)

Yeah, and I remember reading his answer somewhere, but can't come up with it at the moment :hmm:
W2k has done fine for me till now, but the moment Apple announces that it *won't* drop development of Shake on linux, I'll take the plunge. Otherwise...?

Oh please, the way they've structured the pricing you could get Shake and an Über Dual G4 Mac with a 21" cinema display for less than the Linux version. Why bother?
regards, Paul
Whoops, supposed to be biggin it up for Linux, aren't I :p

Because I've already got a Shake windows license, and with the kind of money I'd have to spend for a decent Mac (are there any?) I could get something else I really want.
Like, anything :)

Because Theat "uber" mac you mentioned preforms at half the speed of a top of the line pc. Dual macs render slower in maya than single cpu macs do, WTF is that about?
Steve Jobs is the CEO of PIXAR and they are replacing all there computers with Linux/Intel machines. What does that say about macs for production?

I think what is being got at here.... Is that for less money you could be compositing on a top of the line Mac at one end of your studio and 3Ding from your regular PC running windows/linux at the other and it would cost you less than having both pieces of software on the one machine....

That make senses for only for *new* users. But for current license holders for all non-OSX OS, why would they invest in the Mac? Because Macs are superior machines? Macs are such great bargains? The software runs best on a Mac?
Nope, the only reason would be if Apple discontinues all but the OSX version.

Jahshaka is ok. Definatly has alot of potential, just nothing very usefull for it right now. It is missing so many basic features right now that it is very hard to do much of anything with it. Kind of like trying to drive a car that stalls every 2 feet.
