Hi Guys,

iīd like to share an image of the job iīm currently working on. More shots from outside and inside are in the qeue... Original imagesize 3456 x 5148 px.

I like it!
Good interface with the street (often hard to do).
The dark paving at the front fading into lighter paving at the back serves to lead your eye into the image well.
You've done a good job matching the lighting too.

Okay, a couple of comments..
The colours on the building don't quite look rich enough, I would be tempted to add some more warmth to the lighting OR add a very small red hue in post production - Notice how warm the lighting in the rest of the image looks.

The only other thing I can think off immediately is that your glass doesn't look reflective enough at ground level (notice how reflective the glass is under the restaurant canopy).

However, you can ignore all that if you've done it that way intentionally :)

I'd be happy to send it out as a final. A great, clean, realistic, crisp render. EIAS's speciality.

PS. Depending on just how fussy you want to be, I notice some banding on the wood texture (repeating). I might break up the wood into several objects and then offset the wood texture map in the Y axis to make each group look more unique.

thanks for your comments.

You are right with your suggestions about the wood, glass and color .-)

When i did the composition in PS the client did not tell me that the original street has to be replaced by a new structure. So thatīs why there are no reflections rendered in this area. I did the street in a second pass and placed it after in PS.

About the wood... thatīs where i have to change my kind of modeling. I always use Vectorworks for modeling and my levels are stored in layers and the groups for EI are assigned by classes in VW. And every class gets one group. So i have to make more classes next time .-))

The color iīve choosen is set up for a print on a HP plotter. And when printed the image looks warmer than it does on the screen *lol*

I upped a second shot. Terrible work to get the trees divided from the background. The whole image is a stich of 5 single photos...

People and special lights inside the building are still missing...

Very nice! This is well integrated. I have however some personal remarks for some minor details: As the right walking gentlemen seems to be (according to the pavement) at the same distance as the left ladies, I would make them a little taller. The shadow under the car is darker than all the others. The tree doesn't cast a shadow. According to the right front building, the shadow under the the new building balconies should be much darker. I also added a reflection in the first street window. Again, this is very personal. Thanks for sharing.

Hi Rick,

you are right. These small details bring much improvement to the scene... Exposing the trees took so long in the oribinal footage that i didnīt look for the shadows of the tree. And the darker ceiling of the balconys are much better than the bright ones in my version. And of course the two men are to small in that position (in my version their parents were japanese .-))...

Thanks so much for these improvements. Iīll adopt them to my final comp.

Rich, you're close to falling for a trap!! ;)

When the camera is at head height, all the people's heads in the image should line up (with small variation). That is to say, it should be the feet that provide the depth to the image, the heads should not.

Excellent suggestions though :)

As I understand it, eye level is an average between 5 and 6 feet. All the people standing on the same plane that have the same height will be on the same "horizon" line (this particular eye level). Those who differ in height will have their head higher or lower than this line.

In a large scene taken afar with lots of people, the average height tends to become prominent thus most of the heads will be nearly at the same height.

I don't understand when you say it should be the feet that provide the depth.:sad:
