View Full Version : already subdivided objects at creation?``
Spirit2029 03-02-2003, 06:29 PM When I create a new polygon object in xsi 3, like a cube or a sphere it comes already subdivided 3 times. This has just stared happening on my scene file, is there any way to correct this?
Thanx

there are 2 kind of property spaces in XSI.
local and global
by default every object, when created, accesses global properties stored in its modelspace root (whatever it's the scene acting as a model or a local/external model).
scene materials, geometry approximation and some other properties are by default indexed to global values until explicitly switched to local (either by an op that will do so, or by the user).
what is happening there is that you changed the geometry approx parameters of an object, maybe from an allcomprehensive PPG, without creating a local set, and therefore now every object in the scene now defaults to those values.
Not to mention that whenever you change those properties on ANY object in the scene that is still using global values you are changing that value on EVERY object relating to global.
try to expand the object in the explorer and double click the approx property, you should be prompted to create a local set in that case, answer yes and your object will no more be linked to the global values.
Also find an object in your scene wich still accesses global properties (any newly created object will do) and move the approx values of that to 0,0 before creating a local set.
this will reset your geoapprox value to normal.
