An extremely thorough report on the panel for Ratatouille at Wondercon has been posted at AICN HERE (http://www.aintitcool.com/node/31764). Interesting stuff. It begins with some descriptions of news scenes shown. Also, a scene description for Spiderman 3 is included further down and a few other interesting bits of information.

Q: "How many films does Pixar have in production at any given time?" Bird: "Right now, five-to-six, either in 'embryonic' stage or full story reels made. Our next one will have its teaser in front of RATATOUILLE." Q: "Do you have any advice for an animator on how to build story?" Bird: "The 'art of animation writing'--what is that? THE SIMPSONS isn't 'animation writing', it's comedy writing." Oswalt concurred, adding that if one wants to learn how tell good stories, they should read books, read the scripts of the films they like, and--Oswalt put the most emphasis on this--"Read Will Eisner's books!"

Wow, it's interesting how paraphrasing can totally change the meaning of what someone says. Makes you not want to ever believe what you read unless you get a complete interview with nothing removed.

There's a number of oddities in this article, but the main one I'd like to mention was when asked about whether on-screen action is dictated by the writer vs. the storyboard artist, Brad said he usually gives the storyboard artist a first chance to do their thing, and sometimes it's really awesome and they use it. But if it doesn't work, then Brad will make suggestions and recommendations. And other parts he does himself because he has a strong idea already of how the segement should look.

Of course, I'm paraphrasing too, so feel free not to believe what I say either :)

Seeing the clips and trailer at the conference gave me high high hopes for this movie, it looks incredible! The storyline is brilliant.
