Making a short animation to graduate this year.

Made an animatic, got some critic, but I can always use more.
Animatic is here: http://www.myhighness.com/s9y_log/index.php?/archives/48-Pitch-13-02-2007..html , and also a lot of the process can be found there.

Due to time problems, the whole rain part will be left it. Hate it to kill you darlings...

The ending isn't worked out yet, but after her fall, I want the dog to wake her up, she's in the mud with her face. Cleans herself up a bit, then continues her walk, confused, and maybe more hasty. In the end she comes to her house, but it isn't as pink anymore as in the first shot, more looks like a ghosthouse now. She looks through one of the windows, (made of dirty glass, with a lot of air bells (?) in it) and scares herself, her face isn't what she expected. It's changed by the glass. Glass slighty breaks (cracks will come in it). When it breaks, cut to black, lot's of dirty noises. During the credits it's raining (I can't completely kill my darling), and the house is back to her pink state from the beginning. Girl has cracked (or how do you say it? can't find the right word it, it all became too much for her, and she realized that).

Will make it 3d (obviously), and the animation probably rotoscope. I'm not that good animator, so I'll use as much reference as I need.
Model for the girl is almost finished, can be textured soon.

I'd like to have critic on the story, and more technical stuff, like camera work, montage, composition, you name it, that can be done better. It would be good to hear things from people out of school, and with a whole different background.

Posted the girl on my weblog (http://www.myhighness.com/s9y_log).

As I said there, the model is finished (I always try to keep it as low-poly as possible, that's something I like), but the textures aren't. Now trying to get some decent cloth simulation on dress, scarf and hair.

And comments on the story are always welcome, it isn't possible that there isn't something wrong with it. Critic can be made on every point (story, framing, camera movement, sound, etc). (link to the story is in my first post)

Looks great.

I love the camera motion. They're really nice.

Are the final models gonna big higher in polycount than the ones you've postet?

Eventhough relatively lowpoly is a lot easyer to animate than highpoly, I think those are way too low...
Or perhaps it's just puppets for the animatic?

I think a polycount of 5000-6000 would be better (like a modern game character), both in terms of rendering-result but also in terms of deformation, which will be hard to make naturally with that low count.

Besides that, I think it looks sweet.

Thanks!

Don't know if you're talking about the girl in the animatic or the one posted in stills? Since the one in front and side view is the one I'm gonna use.

I'm now looking if triangulate will help me with the skinning/deformation problems, since I don't wanna change the look of my models too much, it's something I chose for. But if that doesn't work, I'll have to add some more.

Is it just for technical problems that you think they're too low, or does it also look weird/ out of place? Since I'm quite happy with the looks, they are close to my drawings...

Hey.

Well, I was talking about the front and side image.
I think if you take a look at the legs, it seems to me, they're a bit too lowres.
Almost looks like a 4 sidede cylindre (which would be a cube then) from the side view.

Personally I would add more detail, but if you like it better this way, go for it then.

I havn't seen the deformation on the girl yet, so can't comment on that, but i think a subdivided version of the dog would look a bit better.
Anyways, you could try it out if you'd like.

But again, if you're happy with the result, then that's great :)
