hi im workin on a short concept, does anyone know the scene from full metal jacket with the scenior drill instructor? Well im doing a 30 second animation to the speech where he says is that a warface,? etc
I'm charicaturing the scenior drill instructor as a bulldog and i'm gonna have the other guy as a weasel or something. I just wanted to get some feedback and see if anyone could throw any ideas my way or suggest improvements. The torso is not going to be that visible, I still need to think about what sort of clothes to give him, suggestions would be cool. Considering using simcloth if i can figure out how to use it. Anyway, this is my first post in this forum, I'm glad to join the community and love some of the great work on here. Boy do i waffle at 5 in the morning, yes thats right im a 3d junkie and never steal 5 minutes away from this machine that just seems to suck up all of my life force, but I love it!
thx for takin the time to read this look forward to hearin from some of you guys

is "full metal jacket" the movie about the vietnam war?
if yes, then i loved it (and usually i don't like that kind of movies).
i especially like the song that "ministry" did with the samples from the movie.

anyway back to the model.

I really like his face, but you should give him also some lips.
about the body: if you were going for human anatomy then you have some problems with the belly muscles (what ever their names) and also the upper chest
check out for some anatomy references

keep updating

Ya its the one about the vietnam war, do you mean the abdoms? Or just the belly section? I am struggling loads with this, I've never modelled muscles and im dreading animating
thx for your crits much appreciated i'll see what i can do to tidy it up

Just by looking at this angle the body looks like it is to wide for the head. The place were the neck and the body meets is to musucler. The upper chest is to far down. You might want to go to fineart.sk and look at the anatomy pictures if you want him to have a human body.
Keep working on this model and posting updates..

thx for your crits, always welcomed, im quite fed up of this model now and dont really have time on my side, starting to wish i'd spline modelled it but nevermind. Hmmm I know the arms look crap but I dont think its too important as I want to add like an overcoat over his body - see diagram. How easy would this be to do and does anyone have any ideas on how to do it, thx mark

Well i would use splines and then were there is an opening in the middle i would select those vertical polys and delete them then tweak the verts.

I would attach it to make sure that the coat deforms properly.

sorry i dont mean to sound thick, will a simple attach do or will i have to keep target welding and all that

i ment just place the coat right over the body mesh and then rig it.
