I believe you'll find one or more tutorials by Helen Yancy in the Painter IX newsletter The Painter Canvas issues.

Though they're not currently listed on the Painter X website, I've created a page listing links to all issues of the Painter IX newsletter from October 4 through January 2007 on my website, PixelAlley (http://www.pixelalley.com).
