I made a walk cycle with bones which i want to render for a game. With character studio it was no problem to keep the character in the ceter of view with the in place mode. i tried to link a camera to the center of the character but the problem is that only the y-position-value of it must be linked. is it possible to use the position constraint only for the y-value and to ignore x and z? or is there another solution to this? It seems to be a very easy thing but i have no idea how to solve it.

you could try wiring the y-movement of the cam to the center of the char using "Wire Parameters" ;)

make sure tho that you set the positioncontroler of the cam to position xyz in the motions tab . . .

you could also link the cam to the character and turn off x and z inheritance:)
