As usual, EiTG keeps their cards thight close to the chest. I think could be very useful to know the general approach of the future Ei; will be an all in one app, more headed to Ch. animation, more arch focussed or what?

I donīt want to look nervous, but i am... iīm planning my future and i need to know if EiAS will be part of it and in what proportion... iīm facing big (for me) investments and canīt aford big mistakes. I had been with EiAS from 1.75 and love the app, but need to know.
Sorry for my bad english

EI has every intention to be in the 3D business for the long haul. The Advisory Board has been working very closely with EI to help improve its look, its marketing direction, its capabilities, toolsets and its future. Several distinct markets have been identified and are represented within the advisory board to include architecture, broadcasting, film vfx, character animation and so forth. Goals are being set to help improve EI's rendering capabilities, interface, and toolsets. I'll talk with EI and see if I can wrangle out a more structured timeline of upgrades and what they intend to focus on. In the meanwhile, maybe you'd be interested in taking a look at this:

I like it a lot! Nice logotype for ei tech group. I really think "EIAS" is also in need of a new logo or logotype. Pleasant color scheme and design, excellent use of users imagery for the backgrounds. "Rotating" the images from a bank is a nice touch for everyone who takes the time to submit their work. The featured artist and users gallery is buried too deep imho. I also think some thumbnails are a little small, can't make out the subject. Overall, I really like it a lot!

Brian, thanks for the link. Really like the look and feel of the new site. I have to agree with Richard, the EIAS logo needs an update. Glad to here everything is full steam ahead for EIAS.

(They should move Paralumino higher up the list on the 3rd party plugins page)

Thanks for the suggestions guys. Keep them coming. Our desire is to produce a great looking website that communicates a more professional image for EIAS & EITG.

Well, I have to admit that I do have my doubts every once in a while about the future of EI, but the reality is that at present EI fits into my production pipe nicely for what I need it to do.
I use it for all of my non character animation related jobs.
I want EI to be up to par with other software for CA, but I don't use it for CA, even though I'd like to:).
That being said, for the work I do use it on, it is the most reliable software I use.
So I'm happy to be current with the version.

1) When the EIAS homepage window is shrunk in MS Explorer the image stays, the EIAS data/menu is lost behind the curtain.

Wouldn't it be better if you had the image disappear and the data stay?

2) Public Forums: Will the "old" forum history be retained?

3) Any chance you can keep an active list of the latest plug-in versions?

4) Text color seems a bit to light.

5) Home page: Latest New: Product Features: Learn More headings seem a bit light also.

I like the changing quotes, images, and general layout. Color selection is easy on the eyes.
I also like the way you intigrate the images into the web site. ie Malcom's image on the home page.

that's it for me.... coffee break over... back to the day job...

Does anyone else think the sample content is a major yawn at best? I'm trying to build a case against using FLV. IMHO the image quality is awful and EI has always been known for superior image quality.

Nice site, the gallery is very hard to find, as richardjoly says, and featured artist seems bad linked (goes to Products Overview). Great to keep the past forum, there is a huge repository of useful tips. I think needs to have some link enside of the new forum.
But is a nice site, and looks very professional.
The Gallery moust be easyer to access, is the real face of EiAS!
I hope to know about the future path of EiAS.
IMHO the more important part is the conectivity with other software (TAFA, pmMessiah, Symclothe or similar, RealFlow et al) and a good UVMapper.
Well. Great work!
Hoping for the future

The old public forums will stay online for people to reference.
DC LLC know about the IE on PC issues, they are working on them.

I would like higher quality videos, I'm happy with the format though (flv).
Blair is right, these movies, however nice it is to have them streaming, stutter and artefact quite a lot.
Ian

Edit: The videos are going to get re-encoded at a higher quality.

Blair -
Its less of a case about FLV and more about the encoding setup used to encode the FLV. The On2 video codec used in Flash 8 is top notch and with the Flash 8 player being installed on about 90% of all machines, I think its a great delivery vehicle for the sample content. I'm not sure which encoder was used but whoever did it should look into either On2's Flix or Sorenson Squeeze (new UB version just released).
