Nicely done!

But the lighting seems a little bit odd.. Especially when it comes down the hill. What kind of lighting did you use?

Hi, thanks, well the lighting and rendering on the "downhill" shot was done by Basilis Kontodimas, i 'll ask him to drop in and answer your question more accurate. But from what i think he did ...it is Mental ray render with 4-5 lights and an HDRi sphere (for more sky reflections and for activating the Final Gather in Maya)...He also had to lit the Hill properly so maybe he has a more complex setup there.... The lit needed to be "pail " 'cuase all the shooting is on a rainy day...:)

Hey,

quite nice work but few things that did not let me to belive that this car could be real. First car was too shine for that kind of wheater, especially when concidering where this car comes, offroad...witch means a lot of dirt but when cg car comes down then it shines there like a new car. When real car takes the shot over then you actually can sense that differense where car in closeup does'nt shine that much.
Second thing was the animation, actually acceleration when car gains speed after coming down to horisontal land. Car almoust stops there and then accelerates like formel one on the asphalt for a second and that takes away the mass of that car (witch makes you little bit to doubt is that actually real).
Third thing was the sound of the car at the same time when this macigal acceleration happens, it sound like really bad rally game sound, like little car with that remote control.
Last thind that I can notice is where the policeman is facing when he is making way for chevi, when I first saw I thought that some kind of helicopter or plane is coming down and after few watch figured out that he is calling for car :) For me the policeman is facing to much to camera view and should face more to the left, maybe thats my problem only.

Despite that criticism I thing thats a very good job and wish you luck :) (Y)

- Hey arza ...thanks man...it was fun although the shooting, tracking , 3d work and render were done in a week (..and with a lot of pain involved), i think it cam actually quite well. :)

- Thanks maiz777 for writing down all this, of course i don't mind . Some of of your points are actually quite correct. Policeman is facing too high ..indeed...but there was no time to shoot that again as far as i know...the client needed to be on AIR very soon and (i also think didn't want to pay for another shhot out...film costs :scream: )

As far as the acceleration of the car ...well there is a very specific need there , although it might look a bit odd when viewing, the car has to be in frame for a specific time while in the last 38-40 frames must much the real one in speed and position (the one getting in real road). And all that should happen in 2-3 days...:scream:. We decided that this was the best speed to much the all action in such a time frame. But your observations are quite well put ..

Thanks.
