View Full Version : Model in Sub-D view(sort of)
Nonproductive 03-01-2003, 03:58 PM The new Geometry windows let you set their view properties seperately... Now if only I could go with one big window and a little smoothed view in the corner that will stay on top :(

well maybe you cant over lap it but what I did is put the smaller window for preview in the right hand corner and side by side beneith I put the geometry graph and outliner
then to the left is my work window

It would be cool if I could drag a geometry window over to my second monitor as well. :)

I've been doing this:
Leave a very thin gap between the top of the main geom window and the underside of the wings window bar. (approx 3mm gap)
Open other windows and arrange them (at the top) so's you can see their bars thro' this 'strip'.
Bring smaller on top of main - and provided you don't click on top bar of main - smaller ones stay on top and all seems to work.
If you accidentally click on main window bar and hide smaller ones ...re-access them thro' the strip / gap :)

WOW! , I didnt know this release was out , kudos to Bjorn for adding this functionality.
Its really nice being able to turn one viewport to shaded and it updates when you model in the other window. Unfortunately wings crashes when you try it with big models.
There's some talk on the official development forum about a bug in Erlang itself.
I don't know if it's the reason for crashes with larger models but Björn said it'll be fixed in the next release of Erland and it's supposed to come out in a few weeks after which it'll get inlcuded in wings.

It bugs me that the shaded version turns back to flat shaded when I do tweaking, then changes back to shaded after I'm done. Anyway to keep it from changing?
Also, in the smoothed preview, I get edges on it. How do I get rid of the edges?

When in smooth preview, there are 4 ways to view the model.
There's the wireframe (default hotkey "w",
and there's 2 different ways to see the edges overlaid.
Toggle this by hitting the "e" key.
First way shows the edges of the subdivided geometry,
while the other shows just the edges of the cage,
looks kinda like the metanurbs thing in LW.
So,to get rid of the edges, just hit "e" once or twice.
