bluemonika 03-01-2007, 01:23 PM Hello everyone.
after having been away from here for a while, i finally picked up the courage to show a bit of my CG. this is my latest CG called ''Scarlet'' the red witch :) i am still new to this kind of cg style painting so she might still feel kind of rough...if anybody can give a tip to finish her or make i better, it would be helpfull :) if not then that is fine too ^_^ this is actually a speedpainting and took me about 4 hours so far.

I think she's very good - the red lighting and the expression on her face makes her look furtive, it's a cool effect.
Some things I'd work on:
Make sure the lighting, as it falls on her hair, is even and realistic. It seems like there's not enough shadow on her hair, especially right on top of her head. Ditto with her left ear (our right)
Also, her chest just above her bust seems too rounded.
But really, I can't think of much to critique. This is really good.

Soooo much here to crit on. I like the theme, and the character is great. you have great sketchy/colored in sense.
you can definitely go farther with this.
Work on the smoke from that box, add more value to the picture (shadows and lights)

I've got to agree with the comments so far, the anatomy of the shoulder and breasts seems a bit off. This: http://lockstock.deviantart.com/gallery/ is a wonderful resourse for reference and I'm sure you can find something that would fit.
The eyes, nose and mouth are compelling. Don't lose that quality.
And of course, for ideas about value, saturation and shadow you can't do better than Mr Hagg-Stahlberg's paintover thread here at CGTalk: http://forums.cgsociety.org/showthread.php?t=359226
Keep on !
