Hello everyone,

First off I'll like to extend a huge thanks again for our sponsors amazing continued support, and for making the challenges that extra special.

As usual our focus for the challenges is not about prizes and all that, its about progressing as an artist, and pushing yourself to new limits. Thats too bad the 2d part of these challenges has no prizes when 2d illustration is such a big part of the animation process. Im currently finishing up an animated short film ive been working on over the last year and just havent had the time to do a model, so decided to try in my 2d skills this challenge. Its funny how overlooked it gets, for there are a ton of great artists in that section of the challenge already. I looked over the VFX challenge and the 2d has more participants then those too! If 2d was made a bigger deal "within the challenges", im sure there would be tons more participants. Ah well, were having fun though, and thats what counts, just thought ide let everyone know..

SEL...I'm not positive, but I think the 2d challengers do receive prizes. I think they did on the last challenge, anyway:D

Tommy just received his prize and he's overally excited and enjoying it as we speak ;) http://www.cgchallenge.com/article.php?article_id=10&page=2 I didn't make a post in the 2D section simply because you have to come to this section first. But I'll make note of that next time. I really don't know why peeps believe we leave 2D out  have you seen that section in the gallery? http://gallery.cgtalk.com we love 2D here and have 3 of the best mods working the 2D area. Kirt and Jeroen keep me up to date all the time, that's why we plug 2D art so much. Steven's last works brought it immense views and crits http://www.cgtalk.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=42635 :) also look here

There's one thing I'm a bit confused on. Does the public vote count for anything, or is it just for fun? I remember reading somewhere that said that the council decides on the final winners?

Its for fun as it always was, we vote for the *final* winners because of the prizes. Our sponsors are giving away prizes and we don't want any cheating going on. We need it to be as fair as possible. Btw we know peeps sign-up under different names to boost their scores, you should've seen the flux in new users the day of the voting announcement ;). But its all in good fun as it should be. We're not changing that since the challenges aren't really about winning but more progressing your skillset.
