Title: Dragon's Treasure
Name: L.W. (Lynn) Perkins
Country: United States
Software: Photoshop

This started out as an acrylic painting, and then was reworked in Photoshop quite a bit, though you can still see pencil marks if you look closely. It was licensed to a puzzle company (SunsOut, Costa Mesa, California, USA) to make a fairly challenging puzzle--this is a cropped version of the whole piece--there must be a million coins in the full version. In hindsight I can see things I would change (starting with how I did the coins--it's better to make large shapes and then work down to the individual coins, rather than make a little circle around each one;-) Also the dragon's shoulder was poorly planned, and my model the cat insisted on trying to sit on my lap, which hampered drawing good cat anatomy somewhat. But I'm fond of this picture because it got me a bunch of unrelated cover work, and I'm a sucker for cats and dragons!

Whoah! That details are amazing. And that cat has a look that say's something like "do you *really* wanna mess with me and my friend, little doggie?" Awesome piece - simply loving it :)

That's the link to a scruffy lo-res version--I made some changes on the final that SunsOut is using (the border is blue, has text and there are lots of places I cleaned up before I sent it off to them) The full file is around 70 megs;-) Thanks so much for the praise--though sometimes too much detail doesn't make great art, it sure makes puzzle people happy. Puzzles are also a great way to sell fantasy paintings, although there are some rules--no nudity, lots of color, lots of stuff, the cuter the better. Your target market is a middle-aged lady who likes to knit ;-)

Thank you, Serena--I think your Bianca e Nero is wonderful, I hope that people go look at it--I was also grateful for the tech tips you included with your art. I have always had trouble with Painter files and compressing them might be why I was losing images.
