For some reason, blender crashes as soon as i start it up. no error messages or anything, it just crashes. I've tried everything in the troubleshooting section in blender.html, nothing works. Does anybody here have any idea what the problem might be?

ok, i guess your on an official bulid downloaded from blender.org.. hmm.. check out graphicall.org (http://www.graphicall.org) you can get cvs & optimised builds from there, check if one of them perhaps works.. certainly the first time i hear of blender not functioning like that.. allso concider downloading and installing python 2.4 (python.org) if the custom builds have the same trouble..!

First suggestion would be to turn down hardware accelleration that fixes 99% of opengl errors.
