Title: Winter Portrait Study
Name: Sav Scatola
Country: United Kingdom
Software: Painter, Photoshop
Portrait study for a larger image. I mostly work in 3D, but I wanted to use this opportunity to practice some 2D painting, so there are no 3D or photo elements. Full size image is A3.
I love visiting the 2D gallery and would very much appreciate any constructive comments which could improve my work.
Thanks

The face and headress are GORGEOUS! But the slumpy sweater she's wearing doesn't do her justice. I'd make her garb as precise and glorious as the crown.
Thanks for the reply and comments Christine. Fair point, I am inspired to revisit the top. I was trying to make it look like those tiny frosted crystals that bunch together and almost look like a fine fur coating when seen from a distance, but 'slumpy sweater' - lol, reckon I categorically failed on that point!
Thanks again for taking the time to comment - guess I need to move any amends to the WIP section :)

Hi Sav, I love this. Good colour, and skin tone. And I like the top, to me it looks like fine fur coating with tiny frosted crystals atop. Nice Job!
Thank you very much for your generous comments Christopher, I'm glad you enjoyed it. I will obviously keep this as a study version, but I do agree with Christine and want to try something a little more spectacular for the larger image as you will see more of her dress. Though I think I should be careful not to go too over the top or it might look a bit 'carnival queen bling', which is not what I'm after in this case :)
Thanks

Hi i agree with the above comments, the positive and the negative ones- personaly i think its a great piece of work and would be proud to call it my own:)
i would maybe critiqe the lack of definition in the bottom area of the nose and the bits of the eyes near the nose- somehow they fade and imho the image would be better if you made thoes parts (specially the bottom of the nose which playes a big role in defining the nose itselfe) more clear and concrete-
hope this helps!
4 stars from me !
Wow, thanks very much for the stars veljko! I see what you mean about the nose and eye areas, I agree and will address that in the next version.
