double click on the tool and it should bring up a box for you to change it.

I'm not a maya expert I've only used it at work for a week or so.

But I don't think you can change that for scale.

I use messiah most of the time and really like the way it handles this.

Left click for parent corodinates, right click for local, and ctrl right click for world. it's so quick to use..

Sorry I can't be anymore help

you cannot change that for the scale tool.
What you can do is re placing the pivot point by pressing Instert on your keyboard, and the move it.
But that was probably not what you needed to know :o

Thanks,

My site is full of really old stuff, there is a thread in the Artists looking for Jobs section which has links to my latest work.

How are you finding maya so far, I found it's work flow really long winded. It has some nice tools and is very powerful but I found I had to click 3 or four times compared to clicking once to get somthing done.

thanks Veqtue.

Carl, I just switched from max & I think i know what you mean. The first time I opened it up I was confused why couldnt draw a box wherever I wanted to, throw a texture on it & render it in all its glory all from one menu.

But now that ive spent some time in it I really like it. It kinda seems more precise. I can work in perspective view which is awesome compared to max. I just started playing with the artisans & although a little gimmicky, I guess they could be pretty cool...

Ill check out your newer stuff...

ye it is a powerful tool, but after using Lightwave and messiah I thought it requires a lot more to get stuff done (I'm not starting a LW vs maya here, honest)

For example with the graph editor you have to select a key then use another button to move it, same with the handles select key select handle then move, I used to just clicking and moving one button moves value the other moves time.

Same with modelling having to select before being able to move something slows me down. mainly I love the drag tool on LW modeler, works in the perspective view and makes it really quick to shift points (vertex) about.

Like I said not starting a vs thread, but perhaps some one could give us newbies to speed tips??

Here are some tips:

Graph Editor:

There is a tool called "direct key" -

-drag-select your curve
-invoke "direct key" tool
-now you can move your keys/handles (with MMB) without reselecting (there is no need to place your cursor exactly on keys/handles to move them, just near them)

Viewports:

In preferences(Settings-Seletion) there is Click Drag Select option.

Cheers, that will make things a little more useable

Another thing is in messiah when I select a channel it will automatically put that in the graph and size the curve to fit in the graph, can this be done.

Also when scaling up keys for a hierachy or a single object can you tell it not to create fraction keyframes, it's called quantize in messiah.

Thanks again

Carl
