This one is fantastic Bobby.

There's a great sense of scale which makes it hilarious.

The compositon and lighting are first class.

I love the feeling of intense heat that comes through this image, especially through the glowing eyes and mouth of the dragon.

Brilliant as always! :thumbsup: Only thing I "don't" like is the dragons eyes, nostrils and mouths lightning. Because they all have the same glow I got the feeling that his head is hollow... almost like a halloween pumpkin.

Fantastic! The personality of the scared soldiers comes through really well and the clean simplified look works really well, especially on the spears. Actually I hope Pixar would do something like this! :)

Interesting to see the work in progress that you managed to finish the sketch without changing much compared to the final image, I rarely manage to do that myself.

IF I had to find a crit it's that personally I liked the fast soldiers slightly different "I am scared sh*****" pose of the sketch more, but it's very minor detail - the new falling backwards looks good either way.

About the textures... the textures of the dragon were made by my buddy Mark. He sculpts real life size dinos for museums and he scanned in a piece of dino skin for my digital painting class texture cd. I took it and manipulated and applied it on to my dragon.

Congrats on the CGaward- I think this piece most warants an award.

It offers something more than just detail. You have captured an excellent moment (something that you do with much of your work) For me the best thing about this is the lighting that sets it apart from everything else. you have also balanced it with the right amount of surface detail.
The subtle texture on the dragons skin in the violet shadows is just right.
