Here is my version of "Rose", and SDK I found over at Polycount.

C & C very very welcome; I saw the other skins, and I'm way behind with quality :hmm:

So I want your C & C to get better :D

Sorry I wont harm you but I think the skin should have more details.

The idea s ok but the resulotion is not my beer.

I can't do it better but you surely can :)

More dirt and details to the skin and use not so much filters.
(I think you made it with PhotoShop)

Keep working

/edit: Maybe this would help some?

Sorry, but I don't like this reply. I already know it's "un good". So nothing new there. See also the first post. But if you had posted some advice, it would be different :p

Dirt & Details: yep, totally agree. Actually, it's my own fault; I feel I posted a bit to early. Ah, well, now it's really a WIP ;)

Idea: Thanks :)

Filters: Hmm, is it so obvious? Please tell me how you noticed. Probably, the dress, right?

Tutorials: Thanks. I'll look into them.

Well, I've made some progress IMHO.

Attached shot are the new and improved (hopefully) boots.

Can you post the Texture? Possibly it would be better to apply critics then...

Adding details doesn't mean that you randomly add scratches everywhere. Actually, your texture has a lot of details but they are all randomly and evenly spread across the whole model which FLATTENS the Model (makes it look 2D, not 3D).

Ok, for a start try this:
Look at your Model and look where the sharp Edges are. If the Edge is convex, make the texture bright along that Edge. If the Edge is concave make the Texture darker.

You should also consider to completly redo whole parts of the texture (the dress for example). Oh and DON't use Photoshop filters because people will always see that. The only filter you will realy need is Gaussian Blur, sometimes Motion Blur and in very, very special cases Radial Blur...

Texture: I don't know if I can cram the whole texture in the attachment size limit, but I'll try.
UPDATE: Nope, can't get it under the attachment limit. But I'll post it ASAP on some webspace I have.
UPDATE 2: Well, here it is, the WIP skin:

C & C still welcome ;)

Details: Heh, I actually thought that was the point of adding scratches ;) Any sugestions for those?

Filter: As you can see from the latest picture, I've dropped some filters. And yes, the dress needs to go badly. I hate that piece of texture. No, really: it looks 2D. any sugestions for adding depth?

Thanks for the rest of the tips :)

sorry my post did suck alot, I am really not thinkin :)...

Maybe layout your texture so that each thing actualy has purpose just like the model, the boot? well metal's okay but make it more detailed then just plates, make labels and such, make colour variations, make it painted with pieces of paint chipped off around the edges... most of all keep it crisp.

I had a remake skin of one of the guys And i basicly gave him an entire jungle cammo look, it actualy looked pretty kool. :) accept I hate how they mirror the chest in the texture.

Well, I can't do much about the UV mapping; this is a reskin ;)

Any hints for paint chips/scracthes/dents? I've tried a few things, but couldn't get it right

And here is the latest shot:

what may help with textues is to grab a skin that you really like and study it in detail. Then in PS try to duplicate the look/feel.

im not saying to crop or steal the parts of the other texture that you like, but to use it as a reference.

another tip is to only do the skin in greyscale. then add color as an overlay. bright cartoony colors seem to degrade realism (unless BoBo does a bright cartoony skin :) )

Yep, thought about that, and I found one. I do turn to it now and then; this is the result until now :hmm:

Heh.

And people, what I really need is some help with the dress. At the moment it's really ugly, and I have no idea what to do about it

EDIT: And the latest shot. I still need to do something with that dress...

EDIT 2: Damn them! Damn them! Anyone knows of a free host that allows image linking?

This will have to do for now:

Well, I consider the skin more or less done.

The only problem I have left is putting her into UT2003. Any hints on that?

please don't consider that done. It needs work, major work.

look around online and find more tutorials to study from. study your metal...it needs improvement. for the dress, use a simple shade (avoid too much black) with seams and folds.

Don't try adding it to UT2003 yet. Get a decent skin first. Practice makes perfect.

Ah, but you haven't seen the latest. I'll post an pic of the latest ASAP.

Not now, since it's 2:07 AM here, and I can barely type :scream:

Can you post your texture file so we can all help you a bit. It seems like youre not working with layers in PS or you are but not much. Let us help you out man, post your uv texture file.

Sometimes it's better to call things done and just move on. I already had cases when I sat for months on the same project and every time I changed something it looked worse and worse.

I won't post the PSD, if you mean that (at least, not yet :p )

But here are the flats:

(at least, I hope so. Still haven't found a free host for image linking)
