How can I make particles or fluid effects to fill up a container.

if you have ever seen shrek there are two good examples of what I am talking about.
1) where shrek is walking through the swamp and creates ripples.
2)When that one guy fills up a glass of milk(very cool)

and another really good example of what I want to do is in this one sunny delight comercial.
it is the one where the bottle is being covered in cement. I think this is the coolest example I have seen.

The effects from Shrek were done with a finite-element fluid simulation developed by Nick Foster of PDI/DreamWorks, for which he won an Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences Technical Achievement Award in 1999.

This work was based on Nick's Ph.D. work at U. Penn:

Bottom line: don't try this at home! :D

Seriously, Maya Fluid Effects is based (I think) on similar principles.
