pogo575 02-27-2007, 02:54 AM Long time lurker... and maybe always will be but just felt like i should let you cats know my copy of messiah is on its way... grabbed silo as well :-D
I guess i had a nervous breakdown and couldn't handle Hexagons bugs or Crraras silly interface.
Hmmm i wonder if i can put my old copy of Lightwave 6 to use again, my dongle is getting dusty.

Cool I really like messiah. Renderign is qutie nice and the rigging is pretty straighfroward. Better docs well definatly coudl use them. I picked it up in december and don't regret it. I was in the market for soemthign to do renders and rigging. So it was between Carrera Hash and messiah well. Messiah seems to be the best solution for me. Don't like patch modeling so hash was out and well carrera has some nice things but rigging is not a strong point. I already have modelers so the choice was obvious.

Hash was my frist real 3d app many many years ago.... well after ray dream designer 3.1.2 ;) Was good to learn on and the such but the habits i learned in that were very hard to break when i moved on to Lightwave for a small freelance job.... thats when i first found and heard of messiah:animate. Only took what, 7 years to get around to adding it to my oolbox of 3d apps.
What can I say! I like options

pogo575,
Welcome to the wonderful world of Messiah!
A word of advice:
Make sure you complete the tutorials in the Documentation. It will go a long way.
You dont have to follow as per the listing in the documentation. Actually, its not the best way of sorting the tutorials. You should begin with the interface intro and move on to creating bones. From there on, you can jump to the rigging section. Since M:S is an animation program first, it makes sense to get into learning how to set up and animate from the start.
Do a search here for free rigs. Ones from Ulven are very good. Try the monkey rig as its light and doesnt slow down the interface.
Things to do in the end:
Attempt the compose and render tutorials after you are comfortable with rigging and animating.
In the end, you can get your hands dirty with expressions, which btw are pretty easy and just wonderful to work with.
More things to do in the end:
After all of the above, which shouldn't take you more than a week, order the cd's from Joe Cosman. You'll be glad you did.
Of course, I jumped to the conclusion that you are a complete newbie to M:S.
Silo rocks too. You might need a third party UV unwrapper tool to get good textures out of Silo.
Let us all know how it goes. And dont forget, help is always a type away!
Regards,
KHURRUM

Thanks for the tips :)
Yeah i've been reading through the tutorials and doing what i can with the demo, having a blast so far!
I've had a lot of success using Hexagon 2 for unwrapping so ill probably continue using that for texturing along with photoshop... also from what i hear Silo 2 has some nice unrapping tools along with a bunch of other exciting stuff happening.
