Hello. I am having some trouble with the dielectric material cooperating with my geometry. I modeled a blender and wanted to shade the glass part of it with a dielectic material. The problem is that when I render the image, it is really dark. It looks like the depth for relfection/refraction is not high enough, but I have both of those maxed out. I made the geometry with polys. What I did was shaped the outside layer, then I selected all the faces and extruded them and then scaled them down and shifted them into position. Here is the result:

which direction do the normals aim?

I don't think its your geometry, although I can't imagine why you are not using nurbs for this particular peice of geometry. You probably need to turn your Col up in value.

If you look closely at your render you can see that the floor is refracting through the surface correctly, but the walls aren't - they're just black. Not sure how to fix this, I don't have much MR experience.

Maybe somehow the wall got its Visible in refractions flag turned off.
What is the material on the wall?

your blender is reflecting your environment..

did you check it?? if your environment is black, the reflection in your blender will be black..

change that color, or use some hdr..
