View Full Version : Maxtreme vs Maximum

As you can see from the following article custom 3ds max drivers are crucial to 3ds max performance.

While Nvidia Maxtreme was discussed here many times and was greatly improved with the last release (.28), I've never seen anyone mention ATI Maximum. That means that either nobody uses it or there are no problems with it.

Maxtreme works with Nvidia Quadro cards and Softquadro mods and needs a separate installation. Maximum works with ATI FireGL and SoftFireGL mods and gets installed together with the card drivers.

Any feedback on how those drivers compare to each-other and if they work at all is greatly appreciated.

Wow, makes me glad I softquadro'd my Ti4600 and using the Maxtreme .28 drivers even more now. I can honestly say it has sped up my viewport redraw's considerably.

dvornik, can you give me a site that has some info on ATI's Maximum driver? I cant find it on ATI's site.

It's not a separate download, it comes with the Firegl drivers. The file name is something like atiom5gl.drv.
