i have never experienced this problem

all your shadows are gone ? just by enabling GI ? depth-map or ray-traced ?

well...just a hunch...and i could be wrong..but this has happened to me a couple times by accident...then a big smack over my own head when i realize it.. when you are creating your gi/fg.. i'm sure you are putting a shere around the "world" to give off the illumination right? well if that is the case..make sure you go into the attributes of the sphere and click off primary visibility.. there is a chance that if the light is outside the sphere it can't cast shaddows on the objects within the sphere...especially if you are using a directional light which has no "place" in 3d space.. that pretty much has been my stupidity when i dont get shaddows...if thats not the case here.. then you'd probably have to let someone check out the scene to see what your missing...its probably something very simple that is causing a conflict somewhere.. i'm sure if you post the scene up people will be willing to take a look at it..
