Is there a setting in the Knife Tool that will disconnect the ploy's along the cut line? Seems like there should be some simple way to do this. With an irregular cut it can be time consuming to go back and select the polys.

I don't know if it works but you could try to activate the "select cuts" option in the knife tool before you cut the mesh. After cutting the mesh you should be able to convert the edgeselection into polygons.

Yeah, what he said.

That only seems to leave the last cut selected. Difficult to make use of that with a more complicated multiple cut.

I'm trying to make cuts on a suface so that it can be seperated along the cuts. The problem with complex cuts being they can leave all sorts of unclean polys. So selecting one section can be rather time consuming.

At least I'm not missing some simple setting apparantly, thanx.

If you're using the knife with single cut turned off then holding down shift at the time of clicking should result in the seleciton being added rather than the last cut being the only selected one (don't forget to turn of Restrict to selection), also there are plenty of good edge selection tools in C4D, try using the path selection tool for instance (and it's various modes).
