Was anyone surprised?! ;)
Great job everyone! The effects really were astounding. It was the first time I was ever truly fooled by a cg performance: I thought his eyes were real for sure.

Wow! Congratulations to John Knoll, Hal Hickel, Charles Gibson, and Allen Hall.
And so much for the anti-ILM conspiracy long believed to exist within the AMPAS. Great job, everyone!!!

Hmmmm...
If they didn't win , I would've declared tha academy of arts and sciences a sham!!!
Congratulations to John, Hal and all ILM Team that has been involved in this show.. You truly deserve it! I still remember when i've watched the movie, when there was a close up of Davy Jones smoking his pipe... and from that point i've missed the whole movie, cause i was trying to find my jaw, which just fall off my head and rolled several seats down in the theater... Simply breathtaking and Mindblowing effects..
And of course congratulations for the rest nominated in that category as well as those films which didn't make it to "academy's top 3"

Congratulations ILM, a well deserved win. You guys have succeeded in raising the already lofty bar a few notches higher. Can't wait to see what's next.
One thing though, is this the same John Knoll as the one we see when open Photoshop?
Congrats ILM, good work.

Absolutely well deserved and without competition. Congratulations all. I'll try and sneak in for the party ;)

Thank you very much! We're all pretty happy.
In answer to your question, no it's not me. The name you're seeing is Thomas Knoll, my brother. I worked on Photoshop up until version 3.0. That was quite a long time ago now, and my name is not listed in the about box any longer.
-John
Ohh man my mistake, i´m sorry, well is good to see that is all in the family, keep it up. :)
