View Full Version : centering camera on object or vice versa?

i want an animated camera to fly straight into a live-action scene.

the video has been mapped to a polyPlane, but the problem i got is how to center the camera onto the plane or vice versa?!

here's a screenshot of a pre-viz animation test:

I'm not sure exactly what your trying to do, but it sounds like you need to create a camera with aim point and either parent or contrain the aim point locator to the poly plane, or make a standard camera and aim contrain it to the poly plane, both methods would achieve the same result, but the camera and aim would be more flexible.

nono, i don't mean the camera's point of interest, but the cam as a whole!

at the end of the animation the camera has to move towards the polyPlane as if it was orthogonal.

i'd like to approach the plane until it covers full video resolution and then playback the live-action-material.

therefore it's a must, that the mapped video is straight orthogonal towards the cam, as if it was an imageplane.

damn, language barriers! :wip: i hope i can make myself understood.

ahh, I see now. In that case, I dont have any advice except manipulate your animation curves until you get it right.

As a complete guess can you matchmove + camera track the first few seconds of the start of movie clip, then animate the camera how you want it prior to the tracked data. This should provide a smooth transition into ur movie-scene.

thanks rebo, nice idea! didn't even think about it.
i will give it a try later on! :bounce:

but, maybe this solution's a little oversized for i simply want to approach the geometric plane in a orthogonal manner!
